Help please, I have a 2008 V70 2.5. For no apparent reason my tailgate will not open today. There was no warning at all, used it yesterday no problem but just won’t open today. I can hear what I think is the lock operating when I try the release handle, the tailgate release buttons on both dash and key fob.
Desperate to open the tailgate somehow. I have searched this forum but all information seems to relate to different model years?? I have managed to pull off the top of the tailgate trim and can look down onto the lock. It has a cable which would seem to run from the handle and micro switch? down to the lock but is covered.
Can anyone offer advice on how I can open it?

 

After further investigation I have discovered a cable adrift on the lower right hand side(as you look from rear of car) see photo. It would appear that this could well be the cable which operates the locking mechanism. It may be possible to simply reattach this cable to lock and solve the problem however I cannot do this until I open the tailgate. Is there anyone who can tell me away of manually opening this tailgate on my 2008 model year V70, I would be very grateful, thanks
