Default Temp gauge not moving

Hello,

I have a 2005 Volvo V70 T5 SE (Engine is completely different to any volvo v70 I have seen...)

The temp gauge stopped moving and the fan would be on constantly (also feels like 1/3 of power), I thought it was going to be down to the thermostat or temp sensor. So I replaced both parts and the outer housing to the thermostat as the seal had broken. Im not getting any leaks from the coolant system, and the temp gauge still isn't working and fan is still constant, although after emptying the coolant and then topping it up again I didn't seem to get the full amount of coolant in, also the big pipe going to the thermostat housing doesn't feel like its getting coolant through it...?

Im really baffled around this so if anyone has any incite it would be bloody lovely!
