Default timing marks

i am rebuilding 04 2.4 non turbo engine. my crankshaft timing marks do not indicate #1 tdc. does this engine not time at tdc #1? thanks in advance.

There should be a mark on the timing belt sprocket on the crankshaft. On the 2.5 LT it is hard to see I suspect that the 2.4 LT will be just as hard to see.

If you still have the head off of the block then put #1 at TDC and start searching for the marks on the sprocket and the block.

Check youtube or google for timing belt videos for your engine.
