V70 2.4L non-turbo, auxiliary and timing belts
My 2004 V70 2.4L non-turbo autotrans was put in service Sept 2003 (64,000 miles on the odo) and so has been in service for 11 years. The only service I have had done is to change the cabin air filter, the engine air filter, and the front disc brake pads.
My owner's manual gives no time limits for the auxiliary serpentine belt and the timing belt (2004 V70 with vin code #61 (positions 6 and 7 in the vin). It states the auxiliary belt is to be checked at 60 kmi and changed at 105 kmi, and the timing belt and tensioner changed at 120 kmi. My vin is YV1SW61TX42_ _ _ _ _ _.
Are there time limits given to the dealer or otherwise published?
My owner's manual states that the non-turbo automatic transmission models sold in California and four other states (vin code #64) are classified as PZEV and the timing belt and tensioner replacement for these vehicles only is 15 years or 150 kmi.
I wonder if the PZEV models have a different belt and tensioner or is it just the lower power rating of the PZEV model puts less strain on the timing belt? My vehicle is rated at 167 hp max and the PZEV model is something like 163 hp.
I am going to have them checked, I guess at the dealer.
