Default V70 T5 Voltage draining earth strap bolt arced!

Hi all, i have an issue with my T5 it 2002 model, its low mileage and i have bought it recently from my wifes brother in law!

the car is fantastic and has been stored for many years as the previous owner works away and had not used it for years! the storage company used to run the car weekly to keep everything working as it should!

the issue is that the car hesitates slightly when starting and when running the dash lights and lights dim if you dab the throttle at low rev's! also the sunroof was not working so i checked the fuses found that the alarm siren 5amp had blown! so replaced that and the sunroof worked! but has blown again now!

i have checked the battery today and found that it was only 11.5V before starting! once started the voltage where around 13.8V when dabbing the accel the voltage dropped to 13V approx, I noticed that the earth strap bolt looked as if it had been arcing i removed it and part of the bolt flange was pitted, so i gave it a little file and cleaned it up, when re-fitting the bolt i noticed a few sparks when the strap moved and when positioning the bolt! (the ignition was off)! after replacing the bolt i started the car seemed to start with less delay/Hesitation, but still got dimming when dabbing! i checked the voltage on the battery when the car was switch off and noticed a constant drop from 12.4 to 11.8 over a short period of time, (the battery was replaced recently and has a 95AMP rating!) also occassionly the display says that the alarm needs servicing! (guess this may have something to do with the siren fuse!)

Sorry if this is a little long winded, but can anyone help (what is causing the drain and bad earth contact) was thinking is the altenator a problem but could it cause a drain/bad contact with on ingition on?

Many thanks for any help

John

Looks as if your voltage regulator has given up.
Check with your local starter/alternator shop about options. A regulator is about $60 and an alternator is much more.
The labor of replacing either is the same. The regulator is integral with the alternator.
