Hi,

my tailgate is not locking on Volvo V70 estate (2001). I removed the tailgate interior to look for the obvious (fuse,broken cable, disconnected rod) but couldn't find anything. I can only hear a click when trying to lock the car but no activity. I manually tried to lock by pushing the lock in and then unlock via the handle which works fine. So there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the lock itself. Some people talk about the loom. Could there be anything wrong with solonoids? Not sure if it would be worth taking everything apart and try to check the solonoids for problems.

Any help would be appreciated

 

I had a problem with my tailgate, V70 2000 2.4T, it would not lock. I could hear a clicking but no locking, Turned out that a small spring in the latch mechanism had broken. My mechanic cannibalised a bit from pre 2000 V70 and fixed it for £30.00.
