Default want to buy but don't know what to look for, advice please.

hello and thanks for reading up front. looking at buying 2002 v70 w/ 2.4 l turbo 5cyl with type 5 trans. unit has 640000 miles (very low) and price is reasonable, what would you suggest i look hard at. i'm a pretty fair wrench with domestic's and have done some timing belt jobs on a few audi a4's but nothing with volvo's. Not looking to reinvent the wheel but don't want to buy a bag of worms and you guys and gals know them better than I about volvos. any help would be great.

This is what I am currently driving. I really like mine a lot! I got mine 5 years ago at 119 000 Km's or so. I'm assuming you meant 64000 miles on the one you are interested in which would be about 102,998 Km's. If I were you unless there are records to the contrary, I would assume it has never had timing belt done, or water pump, fuel pump, alternator, battery, suspension, muffler or O2 sensors. I have put on about 50000 k's on mine and have had to deal with most of these items I have mentioned. So on top of the $10000 I spent on the car initially I've spent another $6000 or so over the last 5 years replacing stuff! Just be sure you are not paying too much for the car because of the lower mileage for its year. My volvo guy always tells me to look for something in good shape with over 150000 k's so many of these issues will have been dealt with but this time I couldn't find anything clean enough so I went with this. Was very clean, almost new looking when I got it. Single owner even but I got stuck with all the maintenance that comes due around 150000 K's!
