2006 Volvo XC70 with stock HU-650 Radio.......
Greetings- As the title says, my wife's car came with a HU-650 radio which works just fine. However, wife would like to have the convenience of a six disk changer instead. Will an HU-850 radio fit right in and plug and play? Are these radios coded for theft protection, in other words, if I buy an HU-850 used, should I make sure that the seller has the radio code ? (assuming it exists ). Anything else that I should be aware of? Thanks, Paul, Providence, RI
I do not think that they are coded to the vehicle anymore. I could be wrong, but have never heard of that issue in the older cars. The most that I ever ran into is a radio code that doesn't match the vehicle's VIN, but does match the radio. The radio no longer codes so that is not an issue anyway.
i believe that they are also plug and play if the system sees a valid interface with a CD changer. Probably needs to be a Volvo unit though.
