S60 HU-650 Radio Sound Problem
Hi,
I have a brand new 2005 Volvo S60.
When I got it the radio played just fine with great sound (6 speaker performance sound). After installation of a VDO Navigator the sound from the front main speakers is much lower and bass is almost gone !!
The VDO screen is mounted on an original Volvo Navigator top plate, but that should really not change anything as I can see....
Does anyone have any ideas ??
Regards,
Peter

RE: S60 HU-650 Radio Sound Problem
It was installed by an authorised VDO dealer, but not by the volvo dealer.
I went back to the VDO dealer (installer) today and (of course...) they did not understand why. Well, they have had the power off the radio, but else, they did nothing in this area...
They took the car in, removed power to the radio and connected again. Now the sound has more bass again... But I think, still not as before.
Anyway, strange that the "sound" can change by removing and connecting power to the radio??

Is the VDO in any way connected to the radio? Most of them are connected for sound and if it is that could be the problem. Those cars are very funny when things are added to them.Im not positive but i believe the factory system has to have software downloaded for everything to work properly.

RE: S60 HU-650 Radio Sound Problem
I am too. I think it sounds like a poor connection, or some interesting behavior of the HU-650 radio.
The guys at the VDO install shop did say that Ford radios was very known for strange behavior after power is connected, and who knows, maybe Volvo has inherited this with this new radio….
Thanks for the thoughts and support.
