2006 XC70 HID/Xenon headlight problem
Hi there, I'm new here. I have a headlight problem and I thought I would ask you guys. My wife/kids drive the XC70 and they have been complaining about the nighttime illumination. I had a look at the headlights going from low/hi beam and I noticed the passenger side (reflector?) around the bulb tries to move but goes back to the original/low beam position. I'm guessing it's internal to the headlight assembly and probably is not fixable. So I have been poking around trying to figure out where to get a replacement. The local junker does not have a HID/Xenon but does have a halogen.
I'm wondering:
- is it compatible with the HID/Xenon wiring?
- does the halogen work the same way as the HID/Xenon with the reflector moving between hi/low beam?
- can I take the Xenon ballast and install in the halogen assembly?
Also, trying to find a new/used passenger HID/Xenon headlight assembly is pretty much impossible, there are lots of halogens out there. Do you have any suggestions where to look? Are there any 3rd party headlights for this thing?
Thanks,
James

2. The HID headlamps uses 1 bulb for high and low beam. The beam is pointed further down the road for high beam. (the reflector moves)
The Halogen headlamps use 2 bulbs for high and low beam. The outer bulb is the low beam, and the inner bulb is the high beam.
3. A halogen headlamp assembly will not have a moving reflector or a place to mount the ballast.
