Default 2010 XC70 3.2 Trouble diagnosing Angle gear/Transmission noise.

New to this site looking for some help.

My Saga began after a hard acceleration in a left turn from a rolling start (my bad). Immediately a loud clunking noise heard and felt from my under my right foot area. I had to nurse the car 10 miles home as any acceleration would re-induce this nerve wrenching noise and vibration. After searching multiple forums on this site and others (BTW There is lots of info on the 2001-2007 XC70 but I found none for the 2008-2013 XC70..??) I ended up removing the propshaft and pulled the Haldex pump fuse ( now 2 wheel drive only ) and the noise disappeared. At this point I came to the conclusion that I had possibly damaged or destroyed sleeve that connects the transmission to the angle gear or even the angle gear spline.

Hear's my problem. Once removed I have found no damage to the sleeve or splines... ? The sleeve came out of the tranny by hand unlike some of the horror stories I've heard...
I have dropped the oil in each and have found no indication of metal.

I have Not found the source of this noise... Have I continued down the correct path...? Thanks Tony

…if the car is on a lift and you can turn a wheel, the noises are not impossible to pinpoint in the drivetrain regarding bearings, angle gear, rear diff, etc.
