Default Climate Control comes on and off with the car just sitting off key out.

So I recently bought a 2001 XC70 and I'm finding the climate fan, sometimes A/C on too, just coming on at any time sitting there in the driveway.

The transmission was replaced on this car, before I bought it, and I've done some searches saying that the CCM can and might need to be replaced.

Also there's a message saying the alarm system requires maintenance.

Any ideas?

What do you mean "A/C on too"?

The fan coming on could just be afterblow, which would be normal.

The alarm is separate. You need a siren.

Yeah brother, A/C was on once, another time it was just blowing air. Sitting there, in the driveway, like an hour later after I got home. At first I thought it was the main radiator fan and my first thought was 'uh-oh...why's it still hot?' Until I got in it and felt the air coming out of the vents.

Also the outside temp reading will go all wonky, read that it's 29 degrees outside when it's 80+, then slowly climb, so I think it's the CCM.

I know redblocks pretty well for a non-mechanic, but these things are totally new to me.

Well the AC can't work without the engine running...

Afterblow is normal, but nothing should light up on the CCM when afterblow is on. Was something lit up?

Nope. It was like a Ghost In The Machine. Car totally dead, fan blowing.
The time the A/C came on, or at least appeared to be on, was in a parking lot after we'd come back from a quick stop in a market, so...perhaps...the A/C compressor was still cold, and that's what I was feeling.... The other times it's just been air blowing.
I just saw another thread on this I jumped on too, just following. It's not that common, nor is it uncommon, and most of what I can find on google seems to be related to the CCM going. I just don't know.... This...is frikken werid. Keys out, ignition off, but apparently the car thinks it needs to change the cabin temp.

On the other thread someone said that if they turn off the A/C and fan it doesn't come on, that thread OP said his A/C was coming on too...again really weird.

Afterblow? Like 5 hours after the car last drove? It's draining the battery, I get that the A/C isn't coming on, but I still have a climate fan coming on hours after the car is stopped.

I don't remember the specs for Afterblow, but it's to dry out the evaporator to prevent odor. The dealer can turn it off.

Now THAT makes sense...
Not sure if you remember, but I'm the one who had that EVAP code. It's all falling into place.

Thanks brother, I need to get that sucker fixed.

An evap code is for evaporative emissions, not the AC evaporator.

I just came across this old post while researching my battery draw down. drenman, you're not crazy. My '02 XC will turn the blower fan on high when sitting in a parking lot. No A/C but just the fan and that's a big draw. Came back to the airport once after a 10 day trip and dead as a doornail. Not sure from what but I think that time it was probably the fan in the summer. Yesterday I was sitting in the car trying to think things through and the cooling fan would come on every few minutes for a short spin, just for 3-4 seconds like a low moan.
