Climate Control not working after battery disconnected
Hello: I have a 2001 xc70. A new stereo was put in and the battery was disconnected for this. When it was all put back together my climate control was not working and the light bulb under my shifter was out. I have read other forums about resetting it by disconnecting battery cables and holding them together for 30 seconds. This did not work. I have an appointment to have the software reloaded in my car on Monday. A local shop said I need a new climate control unit for $1,000 plus software and installation! I have seen several people have been told this and then have reset memory or re installed software to make it work. Anyone have this same problem lately? I have an appointment on Monday for reinstallation of software ($120) but not sure this will fix it until I try. I am also considering a used unit but would probably still need the software update.
Thanks,
Patty

Hey, I have a 2002 s60 AWD 2.4T. I replaced the starter on my car and reconnected the battery the wrong way (negative first) and the CCM (climate control module) went completely dead, nothing on the panel works and the little light on the shifter position went out.
I tried joining the battery cables for an hour, reconnecting the right way, i tried locking\unlocking 5+ times. Nothing worked.
The temp sensor thermistor near the tiny fan on my CCM has been broken/severed since I purchased the car from the PO and everything has worked fine. On a whim, I tried soldering a jumper wire across the thermistor terminals, did the battery reconnect, lock/unlock...nothing. CCM still dead.
Than I purchased a used CCM from LQKonline via ebay for ~70 bucks shipped. This particular used unit is of the same year (2002) and the same car (s60) and had the same part number as mine (8682932). I reconnected the battery positive first, than negative (quickly to avoid arc'ing). sat in the car with all doors shut, lock/unlocked 5 times. turned on the car and everything now works, including the shift position light at the shifter.
hope this helps you or someone else. Just don't give up the fight, took me weeks (crossing my fingers it stays working).
So now Im back to battling the turboturd's low boost issues, (which I might be winning as of late....just saw 6psi yesterday....WOOT)

Disconnected the battery on my 2002 Volvo S60 and re-connected it. Locked and unlocked the FRONT doors only with the remote 5 times and now the Climate control panel is active. One of the DUMBEST things I have ever heard of in my life besides blinker fluid and muffler bearings. Swedish cars. WTH?
