Default Fuel Pump Replacement

Hello gang !

I bought an 2002 xc70 and it has a fuel leak from the fuel pump area.
Noticeable on the ground in front of the drivers side rear wheel.
After speaking with the previous owner, he hired some kid on craigslist to replace the pump for him. Well the kid cracked the fuel pump retaining ring nut or spanner nut for the correct terminology. He use a mallet and screw driver to remove it and install it. Cracked in the process. I priced the tool at Volvo and they wanted $55.00 for it ? That was a no-go considering this could be the one and only time I would use it. I saw one online for $40.00, but I still thought that was too much ! Then I decided to make my own ! I bought the new spanner nut, took it to the Home Depot and bought a 4" PVC Coupling for a couple of bucks.
I then got a sharply marker and marked up the coupling with all the tabs on the nut, cut each slot out with a rotozip, flipped it over and drilled two sets of adjacent holes, big enough to fit a large screw driver, as a leverage handle and waaLaa ! I made the tool for a couple of bucks ! Now to do the job lol !
I attached pictures.

Nice. You can also just use two screwdrivers leveraged against each other.

That's cool, but I'm an Aircraft Mechanic and believe in using the correct tool for the job.

That's cool, I'm a Volvo mechanic and I also believe in using the correct tool for the job. A notched PVC pipe isn't exactly the correct tool. Two screwdrivers works just fine without damaging anything, in case that's what you were getting at.

I'm just copying the design of the OEM special tool !
I'm sure that the two screwdrivers work fine for you, but with even pressure on each tap of the ring, you will definitely get more torque on it, hands down over the crossed screwdriver method. It only cost 2 buck and 15 minutes to make, so it's the right tool as far as I'm concerned.

ES6T, it's contradicted as what you said:".. I also believe in using the correct tool for the job." "...Two screwdrivers works just fine without damaging anything,..." He's "copying the design of the OEM special tool" Two screw drivers are not correct tool for the job, Trump said: "You're fired!"
