Fuel Smell...
We have a 2004 XC70 with about 203,000 miles on it. We have noticed a "significant" fuel odor coming from the car, especially after it has sat for a bit, and especially after it has sat in an enclosed space (our garage at home) overnight.
Found a recall notice for some XC70s with this issue that had to do with a cracked flange on the fuel pump, but Volvo says our VIN is not included in the recall.
Anyone else had this occurrence, and if so what was the issue?
We've had no accidents and no "rough pavement" issues that I'm aware of.

I had this same issue with my 2001 S60 last year. The smell was faint at first, gradually getting worse until it was obnoxious. I wasn't sure if it was the fuel pump or if it was something else so I brought it to the dealer to confirm. Sure enough it was, and they offered to replace it for about $500. I did it myself in just a few hours after getting a fuel pump retaining ring removal tool that would work. Haven't had any issues since.
