what can be a possible problem on the car that smells fuel after putting full tank of gas....(no spil/leak on the gas tank cover) smells last for about 2 days....thanks for any info. (1996 volvo 850 sedan)

a leak somewhere in the fuel system.
I forget if your car was involved in the recall or not, but volvo does have a recall out on some of their gas tanks on the 850 due to fuel leaks.

by the time i check it, it doesn't smells anymore so i'll try next time i put gas on it....right now what i smell is rubber, strong smell of rubber no idea what causes it, any information would be appreciated.
