I'm buying a Volvo.
I am getting an 01 V70 XC with 287,000 kms. I know the mileage is high, but I have also seen that Volvo's last a long time compared to other cars.
The car is in immaculate condition. The only rust are some bubbles about 3 inches long on the lower A pillar on both sides of the car, the rest of the car barely has a scratch. The inside bottom of the doors look like they are a couple of years old. This car was babied. Just looking at the interior you can tell the last owner took care of it.
I have also heard horror stories about the 01/02 XC70, but I am not worried. I figure that with 287K, the owner has already replaced any of the original bad parts on the car that would have died. If anything else dies, it's just normal on a 14 years old car.
The only things not to work is the passenger front door is dead. No power to the mirror, window or the lock, hopefully it's just a bad ground. The outside temp reads 0 all the time, but I do not think I will refuse to buy the car because of that. The car needed a coil and a front wheel bearing that was already rerplaced, so I'm good to go as soon ans the paperwork is done.
By the way, I'm getting the car foir $1300 CDN which I also happy with.
See you around the forum,
Ian
