Unhappy onr courtest light not working when yellow button pressed, but both work when headlig

I recently bought a 2006 XC70 and have gotten most of its quirks fixed, with a few exceptions; bad misfire with hard acceleration, being the most annoying, but far from the only problem.
Several days ago I tested the courtesy (AKA follow me home) lights and discovered that when I press the yellow button on the key fob ONE of the small bulbs in the headlight array comes on (I'm assuming these are also the daytime running lights), but not both. When I start the car BOTH of these lights come on, so I believe that this is a good indication that the bulbs must be good. My questions are as follows: are BOTH of these lights supposed to come on when I press the yellow button, or is it normal for only one to come on? If both are supposed to come on, does anyone have any suggestions as to what would cause this?
I'm also hoping to find a good deal on an OEM radio (I believe it originally had a HU-650) but when the original deck failed the previous owner replaced it with a cheap aftermarket deck that I HATE. I would like to have the car stay as close to original as possible. Does anyone have a working deck for sale cheap?

You could try Voluparts.com in Atlanta for a head unit 404-352-3402

And I thought Follow me home lights are the headlamps that come on for x (programmable) seconds by pulling the ts switch back after turning the car off.
