I just bought a nice used 2004 XC70. Working through the list of things that need to be fixed including the rear control module. In pulling out out to be sent of for repair I spotted a factory wiring plug near the spare tire that isn't hooked up to anything. should it be? Anybody know what it's for?
I believe it is the trailer lights, etc. hook-up connector. But since Volvo does not seem to sell the plug/harness anymore, I just hacked into the correct pin locations to get the signals for brakes, turn signals, and marker lights. I did have to isolate the systems by buying the trailer control module for the XC70.
That is the only purpose I could find for that connector in the spare tire area.
