Default Siren Replacement Question

Has anyone replaced their siren with a used one that works? I went thru 2 sirens from Erie Vovo and neither worked. Did not produced the audible siren after simulation.

I removed the siren from a 2006 Volvo XC 90 and cut it open and remove the circuitboard. When the siren was out, the sunroof would not work. The battery had leak. I was able to clean up the circuitboard and purchased a battery and replaced the leaking one. I did this year ago and this seems to be working out well. I removed the siren from a 2002 XC 70 and just left it out. The potential problem is that the sunroof would not work but this was not the case for me. Seems like it may be different for different models?

Yes, did the same thing to mine. A bad siren module left connected to the car disables the Sunroof. So best to just remove the module to allow the sunroof to work. The ckt board of my original siren was badly corroded. I could not restore it. I ordered one from eBay that did not work at all. The 2 that I got from Erie Vovo made the lights flash but did not make any audible siren. They took both back and refunded me.

They fail so often I would never consider a used one.

Learned the hard way. But for the cost of a new one might as well have an aftermarket alarm installed.
