Default Alarm Question.....

This may seem a dumb question but....What is the easiest way to tell if your car has an alarm fitted???
My car is a 1999 S80 T6 Volvo (New Zealand new). It has a light on the dash but as long as I have owned the car (2 years) there has been no indication it has a alarm. I have read on here about the siren replacement etc, but don't want to splash out on a siren just to find out it never came with an alarm. Was this a factory option, or did it come as standard on this model. I am sure there must be a easy way rather than taking off the wheel arch cover etc. I have tried locking the doors with a window down and reaching through and unlocking the door from the inside and the indicators don't flash or anything like that? Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated?

when I did what you did...lock door with window down and then open from the inside...the siren went off, so I'm assuming that should trigger the alarm if your car had one/was working correctly.
