Default Suggestions on Wheels

I have a 2006 XC70 and am interested in putting some aftermarket wheels on the car. I have not seen many 2001- 2007 XC70s with aftermarket wheels, so looking here for some suggestions. I currently have the original stock 16 inch wheels. I am looking for something similar to the the Volvo factory 2011-2015 machined charcoal wheels, or machined black gloss wheels that were available on the XC70s. I know those wheels will not fit on the 2006 model, therefore I am looking for something close in an aftermarket wheel. Something in 17 or 18 inch with correct fitment.

check out wheel-size.com to get a sense of what OEM wheel sizes are available for your year/model. Generally speaking from 1994 onward (not including the Nedscar gen 1 S40s) Volvo uses a 5x108 bolt pattern. There are two different center bores so you need to chose what's appropriate (your car has a 65.1 CB typical of the pre-2010 cars excepting the gen2 S40s which is why wheels from a 2011+ won't fit). For your 17s or 18s you'd want an 8" rim +- 1/2 inch with a 45 to 49mm offset (for an 8.5 go 45 for a 7.5 go 49). If you like the different OEM styles, check out the wheelcollision.com web site. They have a nice catalog with pictures and OEM names for you to consider when shopping. Just choose a rim by name and google - there's a aftermarket sellers who can source OEM style wheels at a fair price or you can search car-part.com to find OEM wheels used via a recycle yard

Thanks. I looked at what's available for OEM wheels for this year, and am looking for something different. I have resorted to the fact what I will need will be aftermarket. I will just need to match up the correct bolt patterns/offset for the wheels. I wish those [post] 2011 MACH/GREY ZEPHYRUS or MACHINE/GREY VALDER wheels would work.

Thanks, I went to wheel-size.com and determined that the CB is 65.1 on 2007 xc70, however 63.4 on 2008 xc70. Why did it change?

yep. Volvo used the 65.1 CB going back to the 80s/90s. When the Gen 2 S40 was introduced in 2004.5, it was the first 5x108 to have the 63.4 CB, then in 2008 it seems all the other cars move to the smaller bore. As long as you pay attention to the offset and center bore you can pretty much use any wheel style from other Volvo models. I used https://www.hubcaphaven.com/c/250/wheels_rims_oem.html when I bought new wheels for my S40. (stock wheels get to carry the snows).

Thanks for the reply, I am new to the forum, what exactly is an offset? Is that the 5 X 108?
Also I have a question about the blower motor resistor, should I start a new thread?

Default Wheel offset

The wheel offset is the difference between the center line of the rim... Ie the mid point of the tread and the hubs face. Most fwds have a negative offset where the hub is closer to the outside. The ET value stamped on a rim is the offset measured in mm.

Thanks for the reply.
You might have to draw me a picture, I am kind of confused. Is there any way you could describe using the already attached picture of the rim?
Should I be thinking about the tire side view or front view?

Default Offset

One way to visualize the offset is the gap from the outside of the tire to the fender wheel arch. Wheels with less offset would have the tire closer to the wheel arch, more offset gives you more clearance. Too much offset and the tire would rub on the strut etc
