Post Wheel bearing or hub assembly?

Howdy,
I've got a '01 v70 XC, and it has a loud resonance when driving straight or turning right (it goes away when steering left), and at sharp right turns it flashes brake service light and "Service brakes immediately", then goes away after a few seconds. Before I order parts, this is a wheel bearing, right? And I should probably replace both, and not worry about spending wayyyy more money on the hub assembly too? Appreciate any help, new to working on this car. I replace power steering pump last weekend, and was concerned that the rack might be a problem too. Thanks!

This does't sound like a wheel bearing issue - as I'm not sure how a bearing would set off a brake warning line - unless the wheel sensor got wacked, plus bearing usually don't moan when going straight - usually on a curve that puts more weight on that wheel. Did you inspect the brakes like the warning light suggests? Start by doing a manual inspection - like making sure the hub/rim is on securely, then pull off the wheel and check the rotor and caliper and sensor wire. I'd also do an OBD2 scan to see what fault code set off the brake warning light. Just make sure your code reader can scan for ABS code.
Regarding the wheel bearings, did you look at any parts catalogs? You'll find the hub assembly is a single part that includes the hub and bearings for $100-150. Your time is worth more than trying to see if you can R+R a 20 year old hub assembly (unless of course if you have accesses to presses etc and do this kind of work regularly).

Thanks! I will go through these. I was confused because a lot of the online stores seem to sell "hub assembly" and "wheel bearing" as the same thing. Hopefully this weekend I will go through and find the problem. Thanks!

start with IPD and FCP Euro as they are probably the two best "Volvo friendly" web stores. I also like to visit dealer online web stores to get the part number and in many cases an assembly diagram. I use Tasca Parts but that's partially because they are relatively near by (Rhode Island). You can google around and see quite a few others. Dealer sites tend to be up to date on superceded part numbers and mid-year breaks (ie up to VIN serial xxx use this after that use part yyy).
