Default wheel bearing replacement

I am replacing the front left wheel bearing on my 850 T5. I can't figure out what size nut holds on the hub and what kind of bolts hold on the wheel bearing. Anyone know or have any good links?

Thanks,
Nick

The Axle nut should be a 36MM.

The hub bolts should be E14 it is an inverted torxes socket.

Hey White out,

Even I am having problems with my front left wheel bearing on my 2001 S40 1.9T. One of the local swedish imports guys is asking for 300$ for parts n labour for just the wheel bearing.
Is it too tough to be changed? I mean lets sayI can do some stuff on car if I have instructions.
Could you please tell me what all things I ll need to change the wheel bearing? and is there any write-up or book which explains that?
Also, I saw some posts where they say that changing the entire hub assemble is much easier than the bearing itself.. Is it so? Is it possible for you to explain on this a little bit, if possible!

Thanks a lot for you help

Bix

For the 850:remove wheelremove halfshaft nut (36mm)remove lower control arm bolts (2)swing lower control arm out and remove halfshaftremove four e14 torxboltsremove wheel bearing assembly-install-do the opposite of all of that ^^The entire job is supposed to take an hour.My wheel bearing was $105 for parts alone.Nick

Axle is not a 36mm. My 12pt 36 keeps falling off. Could it be a 34 or 35mm?

I use a 6 point 36MM.
Maybe someone replaced the axle at one time and used a smaller nut.

Before I bought the 36MM I used to use a 1 1/4 socket. It was a little loose but it worked for me.

I was really thinking that it was 35mm socket that I used on mine.

FYI, I paid about $200 for the whole assembly from a local Volvo dealer. In my driveway with normal hand tools, taking my time, it took me maybe 1.5 hours total. Not that hard to do.
