440 door panel removal
hi.
i wanted to change the busted door speakers on my grandmothers '91 440.
the interiors still in pretty good shape so i didnt want to just recklessly start prying off stuff with the danger that i'd accidentally break off mounting tabs or clips or something. so i was wondering if anyone could post or point me a step-by-step on getting the interior door panels loose to get at the original door speakers?
thx a bunch!

RE: 440 door panel removal
Depends on the trim of the car.
For those with the fancy pull handle on thefront doors remove the upper cover to expose 2 screws, remove them and take off the door handle. Remove the escutcheon plate around the door lock handle by pulling it out at the front and unhooking it at the rear. Remove the window winder if fitted by pulling out the plug in the centre of the handle and taking out the screw.
For those with the plastic hand grip insert remove the plastic cap and the screw that is now exposed. Lift out the hand grip. Remove the window winder if fitted. Remove the escutcheon plate as above.
That leaves 3 or 5 plastic clips holding the trim to the door depending on when the car was built, 3 along the bottom edge and possibly one on each side about half way up. Be prepared for these to break, but you should be able to get new ones.
