Default 85 Turbo climate control problem - Help!

I have a 1985 Turbo wagon, and the heater is always on. The fan works fine, but there is no way to adjust between hot and cold. Anyone know how to manually switch the vent so that it only blows cold instead of hot?

Which model is it? Also it should have a heater control valve that is controlled by vacuum under the hood.

thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what model the car is, it only says in the manual that it is a 1984 turbo wagon. it has the same manual as the DL, GL and GLE, if that helps.

It has to be either a 240 or 740. There should be the heater control valve under the hood by the firewall with the heater hoses attached to it. Try moving that arm and see if the temp changes.

well, i examined pretty thoroughly under the hood and was unable to find anything that looked like a heater control valve. It is easy enough to see where the heater hoses go through the firewall, so I wonder if the valve is behind the firewall. I had a friend move the heater control back and forth in the can and I was unable to see anything moving under the hood. any thoughts?

If it is a 740 then the heater valve will be outside. If it is a 240 then it will be inside the car. But I really need to know if it is a 740 or a 240.

Then the heater valve will be inside the car. When the car is warmed up is both heater hoses hot?

Then it would sound like the valve is bad.

Remove the panel to the right of the gas pedal and look for the valve. I have never had to replace one so not really sure. For now try pinching both hoses off and see if cold air comes out.
