Axle ratio's..?
Hello all..
I've got a '71 164e which I've nearlly finished restoring. I have just converted it to manual (M41) and would like to know if its possibly to change the axle ratios by swapping the crown wheels (From a 200,700,900 series) or would it be easier to change the axle. The automatics we're higher geared (3.54:1 I think) but I had a 240glt that ran at 70mph at around 2500rpm and would like to aim for this figure with the 164.
I haven't run the car yet with the new set up but i think the auto axle will be too high for my needs. Any thoughts..
