Default Door chime comes on randomly

When I am driving down the road the door chime will start to go off and the courtesy light comes on. If I open the door and slam it stops. It used to only happen one time per morning commute but now it happens repeatedly. Could it be a fuse? I really want it to be something easy....

Please help!

Do one of the 42 folks who looked at my post know what I can do?

Seems your issue is the door lock.
The sensor that shows that the door is locked is inside.

sounds like a switch is a bit sticky or worn. You didn't mention what model / year you have but look for a small button switch in the door jamb. That switch gets pressed when the door is closed and it sounds like its not getting fully pressed when you close the door. Also the problem may be a worn door pin, meaning the door may not be closing as tightly as it used to... but knowing your model would help.

Sorry about that. It is a 1995 850. Thank you for helping me out. I will take a look.

I finally got around to looking at my daughter's 850 and it doesn't use a simple button to sense the door position :-( so I'm assuming there's a position sensor on the latch? At any rate, if this is still an issue, best to repost your question on the 850 board.
