I've found a PV544 roof rack hanging in my father's garage. I know he had a 1960 and then a '64, which he probably sold around 1975. It's been hanging there a LONG time.
It looked to be in good condition, thought I did not examine closely for rust. Anybody have an idea what it's worth?
I haven't been able to find any examples on the internet, though I've found plenty of fully restored vehicles, so I'm certain somebody wants it.
I'd like to find it a good home.

Rack is now at my home in S Lake Tahoe. See pictures. Original 1960’s vintage rack. Used a few times, decades of hanging on the garage wall.
All the wood slats are intact, no splitting.
All the rivets for the slats are intact.
All the foot clamps are intact and function.
There is surface rust but no pitting. No cracked welds. It will need sanding and paint and varnish.
Free added bonus, original PV544 owner’s folder with instruction book and marketing materials.
Weight = 13#. No clue how to ship or what it will cost.
Asking $500. I've not found any on this continent. I've found one in Europe for $450.

 

Hello everyone, my name is Reese and I build luggage racks/roof racks for vintage cars. Mostly air cooled vws but ive been branching out and building custom racks for Datsun 510's, BMW 02, early C10 trucks and I've noticed there's nothing available for the volvo544. I do like the rack that's shown here on this thread and I would like to find out if there is anyone here would be interested in getting a rack similar in look. If there's a need or a want for them, I can build a few. If anyone is interested, please reach out.
