Default 12v plug in the trunk

Hi everybody,
I'm planning to install a 12V plug inside my S60 trunk
I've found several ways to do it with constant 12v+ (rear cigarette lighter, trunk fuse panel...) but what I'd like is to set it in a way that it's activated when I unlock the car with the remote.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Default RE: 12v plug in the trunk

Curious question. What's this for?

I can think of one or two way to get a remote active 12 volt signal in a car but nothing comes to mind with the key fob. First problem I can see is that it's a switched power source to begin with. So, whatever it was you were trying to power would just turn right back off....even after you started the car. Unless you bastardize the panic button...but then you talking about having to rewire a bunch of safety features.

Maybe you could just hook up a relay in line with the front door electronic lock power source. then hook the relay up to the power in the trunk. you hit the unlock button, the relay switches and turns on your outlet?

Thanks for the reply.
I know it's weird.
I have a bluetooth Gps receiver that I'm planning to install fixed in my trunk (or anywhere else, but the trunk is full of places to set it).
I'll install it without its battery so it will be performing always 'cold' starts, so the early I supply 12v, the early it will finish the gps location process.
Maybe it's easier to install it with its battery in the front dash, in the RTI system hole, plugged to the standard 12v from the radio.

Thanks again.

so it's the load/acquisition time you're trying to avoid? How many amps does this receiver draw and does it have a sleep mode? I'm thinking that if you're talking about a trickle charge amount of power you could probably just hard wire it to a constant 12 volt signal and not have to worry about it. I've got a custom radar detector set up the same way in my cavalier.
