Cleaning up the wiring on my old project 240, adding grounds, replacing fuse panel
I took on a 85 240 with a 302 swap that now runs. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what stock Volvo wires I can eliminate which might take me a while. Ive also added some things in the engine bay such as independent relay for the fuel pump and wiring for a electric fan controller. I might run a small amp down the road for the stereo as well as aftermarket gauges which will need power as well.
I was looking into distribution blocks and was a bit hesitant about bolting a 12 volt power source with studs sticking out to the firewall for instance. I guess im asking are they safe lol?
Second question was about adding grounds, i'm not 100% this motor is properly grounded as it was a swap done years ago and visually it looks okay but how much does some thick wire cost. Can I simply just add a think enough gauge wire from the block to the chassis or battery or both? Would it hurt to go overkill on the grounds?
Lastly is there any guides to retrofitting a more up to date fuse block and replacing the old ceramic fuses with something more modern? I realize that is a risky huge task if not labeled correctly.
