My 2004 S60 has the HU-613 radio/CD/tape unit that came with the car.

Around 70,000 miles or so, the display unit began to act strange. Sometimes I'd turn on the car, but the display wouldn't come on. Sometimes it was garbage characters. Sometimes I'd change radio stations but the display wouldn't change.

Aside from the display, the unit works just fine - I can play CDs, change stations, use the tape, etc. It's just sometimes I have to do it "blind" because I can't read the display.

Seems to reset if I turn off the car. Just turning the unit on/off doesn't change whichever behavior it's picked for that trip.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Anything I can do to reset it or fix it? I'm sure the dealer would love to charge me a fortune to troubleshoot and rip the dashboard apart...because it still works fine, not sure I can justify spending money on it.
