Ipod kit on c30 2007
Hi !
I have an European C30 2007 with basic radio...I want to know if theres any possibility to install the Ipod adapter kit in this car, and if there is any other products beside the Volvo adapter offer. I've looked at USASPEC and my model doesnt appear in compatibility list.

Starting in certain models in 2007 volvo was making them I-pod capatible. Look under the armrest in the center console and see if there is a jack there, if there is it has ipod capability and you can get a kit from the dealer for about $175.00 and install it in about a half hour. the kit mounts on your left air vent and runs through your stereo without using an fm transmitter. If your vehicle is not equipped you can still install the ipod using the older system still playing through the radio. If you are not sure call the dealer have your chassis # (last 6 digits of the vin#). the should be able to look up which kit you need. good luck.

You also asked if there was anything other then the Ipod adapter offered by Volvo and I gave you one. Which is an FM Transmitter. Even the most exspensive ones will be crappy and I don't recommend it but it is an option.

I don't have that jack in center console, it is only available in 2008 models. I don't have AUX input, because i have the basic radio and the dealer said to me that they could make an install anyway. I just want to confirm, because other dealer from another house said that it was not possible. What is the "older system" that you've said ?
I am not sure about the new c30 but I am sure that they make a kit for it. I just installed the older style ipod kit into an early build 2007 v70 and it was more difficult than the newer style. I wiil check at work tomorrow to see what is available for the c30. I assume since you have a plain radio that you dont have RTI or a 10 disc cd player?
Yes i have a plain radio without RTI and cd changer. In europe there are MY07 and MY08 model. The MY08 has an official kit to ipod, but for MY07 it is known that it cant have the kit. I've search in USA SPEC and doesnt have volvo c30...If you could see me that i would apreciate!
Again if you cannot find a kit for your model car your limited to a few options.
1. Figure out how to apply the HU from another Volvo with the Ipod kit.
2. Get an FM Transmitter. Get the best you can, but I will warn you it will more then likely sound like crap with radio interferance.

I have talked with the dealer today and he contacted the mechanic and it said that i have to get the official ipod adapter for v50 or 04-07 S40 because the radio its the same. The ipod kit for that model was discontinued by Volvo, anyone knows a place where i can get that discontinued kit ?

I checked today and it does not look like they made an ipod kit for the c30 yet. You maybe right in saying the s40,v50 unit might work as I have not seen a c30 in our shop as of yet.
I have a 2006 C70 and have this same problem. I wanted to hardwire a Zune mp3 player and have had my car to severalproferssional installersonly to be told by everyone that it can't be done. I have also purchased several FM transmitters and returned them all because they all suck. I live in Kansas City and we have a full spectrum of FM stations or bleed on the ones that aren't broadcasted in our area. I could never get clean, clear sound out of any of them.
While researching more on this topic, I ran across an FM transmitter called the Whole House FM Transmitter and it works great. It can only be purchased on the internet. I know Ebay has them and they are very expensive compared to others, but it works flawlessly. I was very skeptical about this, especially with the price, but figured I'd return it if it didn't work. It uses dip switches to lock in the FM channel you want and this thing just has a lot more power than the others.
I paired it with some custom mounts from http://www.proclipusa.com/and it really is a clean install. I mounted the transmitter with velcro behind the stereo system so it is totally out of the way and can't bee seen.
The transmitter can be run on 3 AA batteries or a car charger. I use batteries just to avoid the wire clutter and have run on them for a month or so without need for a change. The transmitter can also be powered by a USB port and standard plug and it ships with all these options.
I will continue to look for a hardwired solution because it will provide more full spectrum sound than can be achieved using FM, but this will work with no static or signal fade.

I see these "Whole House FM Transmitters" on Ebay going from $12.00 to $80. I have seen other FM Transmitters go for well over $100 regular price on other websites.
So these are low to medium priced transmitters.

you could get a JL Audio Cleansweep... its abt 250$ .
... It basically takes the audio output and converts it into RCA which go into the cleansweep... Plus CD's u put in the cd player or anything else will make it sound better...
