I don't think the USA Spec adapter works. However I would call your local Volvo dealership and ask them. As I do believe they also sell the USA Spec adapter for Volvo's.
On another note it looks like the USA Spec system is for 01-06 models. However call the local dealership and ask them to be sure.
However while searching the Crutchfield website I found this.

Exspensive though. IMO way too much money.
Another option is an FM Transmitter. I highly discourage these, but it might be your only alternative. If you do buy one, buy the best one you can buy.
