Forgive me if this has been posted before:

CD works fine.
No tapes so that doesn't matter.

Radio works when it feels like working.
Presets and display are fine, but no sound all the time.
I preset 24 stations and now I get sound sometimes but not other times.

Quite baffled now - any ideas?

 

I would think that the stereo is going/gone bad. Swap in a good unit and see if that works. Replacement heads are not that bad (price wise).
