Default Daytime Running Light Modifications for Canada

I recently moved back to Canada and imported my 2015 XC60. I am going through the RIV Inspection checklist and will have to get the day time running lights modified to be on in the "on", "Auto" and "off" positions. I'm in a place with out a dealership nearby and was told by another Auto shop that this has to be "programmed" by a dealer. curious if anybody has been through this on their Volvo - to understand what is involved.

Thanks!

Headlamps are on all the time in Canada. To program that would require a subscription to VIDA, Volvo's service. parts, and software download service. A dealer has a full time subscription, but independent shops and individuals can purchase subscriptions also. Subscriptions range from ~$70 for a 3 day to ~$7000 for a year - plus the cost of a DICE unit, or compatible car to computer interface. So not really consumer friendly but independent shops do purchase and program Volvos.

Thanks! Any idea if there is a way to figure out who has these subscriptions or if there are authorized Volvo shops in the area. I already know there is no dealership in town.

Volvo does not "authorize" any shops. As a shop owner I chose to specialize in Volvos, had Vida subscriptions as needed and the Volvo dealers liked selling parts to me - but they and the dealers really did not like me taking service business from their dealers. It might take a visit to a Volvo dealer to get your daytime running lamps programmed for Canada. That's not a normal procedure and an independent garage may not have the resources to complete the task. (information from the manufacturer as to how to do it)
