Automatic gearbox - Aisin AW50-40/AW50-42
Hello from Brazil guys!
Well, I'm appealing to you here because I own a 06' Fiat Marea 2.4 20V HLX Automatic...
Explaining a little bit about the car, yeah, it's the same as the one that was sold in Europe from 1996 to 2001, but with some differences... The first one is that in 2000 the 2.0 20V (five cylinder) engine was changed by the 2.4 20V that was offered in Stilo Abarth and some Lancia Lybra's versions.
Then, when it stopped being produced there in Europe, we from Brazil received a rear facelift (using Lancia Lybra's taillights) in saloon (called sedan here) version (Weekend continued the same) and a automatic gearbox option that was the same as offered in some cars sold here - (Vauxhall/Opel) Vectra A, Vectra B, (Daewoo) Espero, (Volvo) 40 series, 70 series, 80 series, 850 series and some Saab (this ones weren't sold here), the Aisin AW50-40/50-42.
Finally in middle-2005 we had a new front and rear facelift and a new radio system that beyond AM/FM and MP3 Player, had a Bluetooth system too (this radio was called "Connect") and in early-2007 it's production stopped.
Well, I heard that we have a lot of information worldwide about this transmission, thanks to the wide vehicle variety that it was offered, and I'm looking precisely for it!
The first info that I'm looking for is: what's the difference between AW50-40 and AW50-42 and how can I know/discover which one equips my car? Or this info doesn't matter?
I'd like to know about rebuild kits too, my car is about 70,000 kilometers (43,750 miles) and I don't know when I will need it, but I will buy it the faster as I can just for stock it for the moment. Which one is most complete, what's the best brand and where can I find it?
I'm thinking about "heavy tuning" my car and I'm worried about the transmission... I heard that we have some great performance kits for this gearbox, but I researched it on Google and found nothing! What can you say/recommend about it?
