Default chipping a GLT

so im looking to find the "perfect" chip for my 99 GLT, any recommendations?

ive been to ipdusa and sent them an email as their chart does not show my year, and eurosporttuning has very little information as to what theirs does. im thinking of buying from ipd as u can get the sport exhaust system and ECU upgrade in a price package, but am still waiting to hear back from them. also, are their any other modifications i should make if im going to add this kind of power?
thanks

Do you have a 1999 s70 awd model? Just wondering or is it just a 1999 s70 GLT?

I am using the SpeedTuning USA 12PSI upgrade ECU upgrade on my 1999 s70 awd. I love it, it is great. I am wanting to do a 3" downpipe to 2.5" catback system upgrade as well, then send my ECU back to have it reprogrammed for the new exhaust.

I do suggest you do a dyno before and after to see results. I didn't, and wished I had.

I also agree do the exhaust and ECU upgrade same time. I would do a 3" downpipe as well to gain maximum performace and a 2.5" catback with free flowing muffler like Magnaflow or if you plan to upgrade your turbo do a 3" catback system as well.

I would get a boost gauge if you haven't already. Autometer makes great ones. And as for a pod, http://www.gaugepods.com for a single, double and triple styles. I know IPD has a single but $30 is a rip when gaugepods sells a single for $15, it is a good deal.

I would replace all vaccum lines with OEM replacements and or silicone replacements.

haha yea i cant afford a downpipe quite yet. as for hoses i have this site:
http://www.stylinmotors.com/volvo.html

a friend of mine said that the GLT was a LPT, is that right? would that effect the chip upgrade a lot too?

I never heard of that site before, but it seems good. So go for it.

Yes the GLT is an LPT engine, meaning Low Pressure Turbo. Well with a smaller turbo you should run the same program as a High Pressure Turbo (HPT) engine. You can but you will find most likely that the 15 and 17 PSI programs SpeedTuning USA and others offer will be out of your turbo's efficency range.

I suggest going with the 12PSI program from SpeedTuning USA, and the 15PSI program shouldn't be a problem either, just saying that it could get out of your turbos efficency range.

The ST program is a good program for the LPT car I would not use the 15/17 psi on your car.

I wouldn't either, that is why I opted for the 12PSI program, runs great.

S70driver is your car a 98 if it is have you ever tried running a 98 T5 ecu. I did that in my 97 and had very good results but my injectors were to big (whites) and ran really rich on the dyno. It produced more power than the St chip which was run right after the 98.

No mine is a 99 S70 awd. I am not so sure running an different cars ECU is better or worse. I know I wouldn't run one IMO.

That should not affect it at all.

Shouldn't affect it too much or at all. Just when you get an ECU upgrade mention you got an exhaust and what size it is. Please go for the 3" downpipe and 2.5" catback.

ok thanks. its probly just goin to be exhaust, no down pipe. then am going to drive over to Speed tuning and get it chipped. guy said it was gonna be around 400 for chip and labor, which is a much better deal then most websites are offering.

You will gain performance from an exhaust, but the downpipe is where you will see the best gains.

You don't have to do any other upgrades. The ECU can wait. To can full performance from the exhuast though you should get an ECU upgrade sometime, plus the extra power the ECU upgrades gives you added to what the full exhaust system will give you.

I am in Pennsylvania, and called Oliver. His shop is only 1.5 hours from my house.

Don't know, but a lot better flow. Also make sure you get the downpipe and catback mandrel bent. Otherwise it really isn't worth it.
