RE: chipping a GLT
i will most likely be able to let you all know how the downpipe and exhaust are as if i do get them, it will be in the next month. im probly goin to get both from EST, as ipd offers no downpipe and EST has a sale on exhaust at the moment. plus getting them both from same manufacturer or distributor or whatever ensures installation is a little bit easier.
s70 how was ST? like how long did it take and all?

RE: chipping a GLT
IPD did sell a downpipe, but do you really want to spend the $1400 for it? I wouldn't.
As for ST it was fast. I forget the exact days but... Lets just say I sent my ECU out UPS next day on Tuesday, Oliver got it Wednesday, and I got it back by Friday. Now I did go through a groupbuy and that might have been the deal like return that quickly. So ask first.
Also I uninstalled and re-installed my ECU by myself.

RE: chipping a GLT
thats good. i was actually thinking of just driving to ST and spending however long it takes at the place. figure that might save me some money on shipping costs and all that. and i just saw that ipd has a downpipe because they sent me a catalogue, and laughed at how they wanted double what EST offered. kinda makes you wonder...

Good afternoon fella's. Can you tell me what the actual difference is appart from the obvious model's but your S70 GLT and my 850 GLT? many thanks, sorry but i'm new on here.
1993: [ul][*]850 GLT ($24,800 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 168hp (125kW) @ 6300rpm and 162ft·lbf (220N·m) @ 4500rpm[/ul] All 1993 850 models were badged GLT, regardless of equipment. Many options (leather, sunroof, and more) were bundled into the Touring package.
1994: [ul][*]850 ($24,300 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 168hp (125kW) @ 6300rpm and 162ft·lbf (220N·m) @ 4500rpm[*]850 Turbo ($29,985 MSRP): 2.3L I5, 222hp (166kW) @ 5200rpm and 221ft·lbf (300N·m) @ 2100rpm[/ul] The base 850 sedan includes the same headlights, front valance and front and rear bumper as the 1993 850, while all other models, including the new wagon, get revised headlights, front valances, and front and rear bumpers. The GLT badge is dropped, although all the same equipment is available. The 222hp Turbo sedan and wagon, as well as the normally aspirated 168hp wagon, are new models this year.
1995: [ul][*]850 ($24,580 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 168hp (125kW) @ 6300rpm and 162ft·lbf (220N·m) @ 4500rpm[*]850 GLT ($27,110 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 168hp (125kW) @ 6300rpm and 162ft·lbf (220N·m) @ 4500rpm[*]850 Turbo ($31,045 MSRP): 2.3L I5, 222hp (166kW) @ 5200rpm and 221ft·lbf (300N·m) @ 2100rpm[*]850 T 5R ($35,545 MSRP): 2.3L I5, 240hp (179kW) @ 5600rpm and 221ft·lbf (300N·m) @ 2100rpm[/ul] The GLT badge returned for the 1995 model year, so there were now sedan and wagon versions of the 850, 850 GLT, 850 Turbo, and 850 T-5R. The T-5R was the new high performance model, with more power stemming from ECU tuning, and special suspension, trim and wheels. In addition to the introduction of the T-5R, changes included new tail-lights for sedans, optional side airbags, new interior switch-gear design and several other detail changes.
1996: [ul][*]850 ($26,125 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 168hp (125kW) @ 6300rpm and 162ft·lbf (220N·m) @ 4700rpm[*]850 GLT ($29,200 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 168hp (125kW) @ 6300rpm and 162ft·lbf (220N·m) @ 4500rpm[*]850 Turbo ($32,650 MSRP): 2.3L I5, 222hp (166kW) @ 5200rpm and 221ft·lbf (300N·m) @ 2100rpm[*]850 R ($37,925 MSRP): 2.3L I5, 240hp (179kW) @ 5600rpm and 221ft·lbf (300N·m) @ 2100rpm[/ul] Changes this year include a revised power door lock system, new exterior colors, and full OBD-II compliance. The T5-R high performance version became the R in 1996, but the performance differences remained relatively the same.
1997: [ul][*]850 ($26,710 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 168hp (125kW) @ 6300rpm and 162ft·lbf (220N·m) @ 4500rpm[*]850 GLT ($31,835 MSRP): 2.4L I5, 190hp (142kW) @ 5100rpm and 199ft·lbf (270N·m) at 1600rpm[*]850 T-5 ($34,500 MSRP): 2.3L I5, 222hp (166kW) @ 5200rpm and 221ft·lbf (300N·m) @ 2100rpm[*]850 R ($38,685 MSRP): 2.3L I5, 240hp (179kW) @ 5600rpm and 221ft·lbf (300N·m) @ 2100rpm[/ul] For 1997, the 850's final year, all GLT models were increased to 190hp (142kW) by pairing a low-pressure turbocharger with the 2.4L engine. The 850 Turbo model was thence called the 850 T-5. The 1997 model year was short, as the substantially similar (virtually identical except for superficial styling changes) Volvo S70 sedan and Volvo V70 wagon were introduced during the first half of 1997.

S70's
Engine The base engine was a 2.4-liter dual overhead cam straight-5 gasoline engine that produced a maximum output of 165hp. The GLT had a turbocharged version of that engine that increased the power to 190hp (141kw). The T5 had a more highly tuned 2.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an output of 236hp (175kw). The Base and T5 models had an optional five-speed manual transmission, the GL and GLT were available with only an automatic transmission. An option on the S70 was the TRACS traction control system that would apply the front brakes to limit wheel slippage. All models had disc brakes and anti-lock braking system. These were also among the first cars in the United States to offer side airbags, an option that has extended to nearly all models today. All-wheel drive was also offered with the GLT model. Trim levels In 2000, the SE trim level was made available to the S70 "base" and GLT model. Therefore four trim levels were offered, Base, Base SE, GLT, and GLT SE. Starting for the 2001 model year, the S70 was replaced by the S60, as the S80 had been introduced in 1999. An S70-R version (which was not released in North America) was introduced later to offer higher performance, along with all-wheel drive. The engine was an extra-tuned edition of the 2319cc unit, rated 250hp and 350Nm for models fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox and limited slip differential. Models fitted with a four-speed automatic gearbox rated 240hp and 330Nm. Specifications This table describes the engine specifications of the 2000 models. Trim Engine Displacement Power output Max torque 0-60mph Base DOHC I5 2435cc 165hp (123kw) 220Nm (162 ft·lb) 9.9s GLT DOHC Turbocharged I5 2435cc 190hp (141kw) 270Nm (199 ft·lb) 8.9s T5 DOHC Turbocharged I5 2319cc 236hp (175kw) 330Nm( 243 ft·lb) 6.4s

RE: chipping a GLT
EST offers a tuning package for your vehicle in the form of their Stage 2+ (includes ECU upgrade, air intake, andcat back exhaust) for the S70 AWD. Net result will be 253hp and 305lbs. of tq. Personally, I'm set to get their upgrade package for my '98 FWD GLT which will net 268hp and 300+ lbs. of tq. (bettering the V70R...hee hee).
