I was trying to think of a good swap for my 78 244 but i wanna keep it volvo so im trying to get a engine with a little more power probably a turbo one so any ideas what engine what be a good fit???

 

A 94+ B230FT would be my choice. It has 13mm rods, and piston squirters.
Well even the other B230, B23, B21, ...etc turbo engines are good.
The only problem is if you get a motor with head driven Dist. You will run into firewall clearances.

 

tight thanks and they were rwd in 94 right? becuase im thinking about putting a 5 speed in it as well.

 

The RWD went all the way to the 1998 V90 (which is just the last year 960). 940's, 960's, and S90's where all RWD.

If you are going to do a 5 speed....The two most common trans are the Getrag or T5.
