ideas on internals
yo i'm looking to add some strength to the lower end of my motor... Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on some good rods and pistons... the only ones i can find is on vms.com and their best can only hold up to 550hp and that's forged H-beams... i was hoping to get more out of my car then that... anyone got any ideas?

i dont recommend vms anymore on this site...to many bad stories about them
CHeck into RSI r-sportinternational.com
Their rods and pistons are now proven to hold well over 1000hp!

STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM VMS. STAY AWAY FROM THEM, STAY AWAY.
There are plenty of horror stories about them, their products and service. STAY AWAY.
I agree with the second poster on RSI.
My question is to you though. You want to get more then 550Hp what are you planning on doing? That's a lot of power to be putting through one of these engines.

well around my area all you see in the import class that's built any at all are your usual honda's, nissan, subaru's and the occasional toyota. so i bought a volvo to be different. i have a buddy that has a Honda Civic HB with a b16 turbo that's pushing 455 whp and my goal is to be able to race him and WIN. so considering the power to weight i'm figuring like 750-800. i know that's a lot of power in these motors but if it can be down then, I WANT IT. Call me crazy but that's me.
OH and thanks for the tip about RSI and i will stay FAR away from VMS. Thanks again

I don't know how far you have looked into this idea but this is going to take a lot of money, time and custom work.
I have a feeling your going to get into it and find out it might be harder then you think it would be.
550+ power is an awesome idea. However did you ever think that this is FWD vehicle and with that much power it would kind of be pointless. RWD would be a better option.

i know it's going to take a lot of time and money, i've worked on cars since i was 8 so believe me i know they're money pits when you get to modding. But i don't want to be one of those guys that's going to upgrade the turbo and turn the boost up and say hey my cars fast. i don't know how much power i will pull out of the car but my goal is as much as I can personally. I already got a spare block it's just getting the internals. It's a project, so it's gonna take awhile.

It's called turbo tuner, but I don't know how far along they are with their products. And before you do that, your supposed to hook up a program to your car to collect data so you know what to map the new ECU to.
Personally, if you really want that kind of power, your driving the wrong car. If you want to stay with Volvo, go with a RWD car. Torque steer FTW.
But, if you really want to, read this thread to see what kind of a job your in for.
