RE: Recommendations?
Well what is your budget like? Also how much gain do you want from your engine?
I would do a full Stage 0 to start out with. Check over on Volvospeed for the full list. It is in their PINNED section in the Performance section of their forum.
-K&N panel filter, and of EST intake kit.
-3" downpipe to a 3" CAT-back if you plan on upgrading turbo at any time. If not upgrading turbo then 3" downpipe to a 2.5" CAT-back system.
-ECU upgrade, (IPD, RICA, Upsolute, SpeedTuning USA)
With those mods you should net about 50 horses about the same torque, maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

RE: Recommendations?
Im no engineer, but I understand it as torque is the turning force of the engine, and horsepower is just a way of measuring engine power. Horsepower is nice, but torque is what u want.

This seemed to sum it up pretty well;
