Surging and dying

I have a 1990 Volvo 740, B230F engine and am experiencing engine surging and dying after starting. If you hold the accelorator down and keep the engine running until it warms up it will run after that. Any ideas?

Clean the throttle body and idle motor really good and that should fix it.
