Default Starting/running problem. Sputtering and dying.

Past two days had trouble starting. Figured it was just cold (Manitoba winters are hell, -25C currently), poured hot water over the engine and it started after that both times. Went to leave the pub today, it wouldn't start again, tried for a while and eventually did get going after a bunch of sputtering. drove a block and the car died at a light. Managed to get it started again, drove another block and died again. This time the car was down for a pretty good time. I had been running grape (rural people may get that) so it was likely old fuel. I bought some premium and dumped that in. Got the car running for a bit but only at rpms higher than 3000, it began to sputter lower than that. Made it two blocks, died again where I left it. Beginning to think that it may not be a fuel problem, but thats where I ask you what you think. Any ideas?

I'm pretty green when it comes to problems like that, but it sounds like the engine isn't getting enough fuel/air.
