Default '02 XC70 timing belt water pump change

Hi all,

Below is a series of timing belt service questions I have before taking this project on. My car is a 2002 XC70 with 103K.

I was able to find great resources for the TB/WP DIY steps, but they all seem to be for the older engines with the hydraulic tensioner. Are there any write ups (with pics) on how to adjust the mechanical tensioner on my car during the cam line up and belt install?

Does the VVT play into the install and does having it on the car change any of the steps in the pictorial DIY's that are referenced in the forums?

Also, is there a source for torque specs on all the bolts involved? is loctite recommended for the tensioner and idler bolts? how about the water pump bolts?

finally, i plan on inspecting the water pump (and bought a pump to swap on), but my car only has 103K on the clock. if the pump looks good would you recommend leaving it alone for another 60K or will the new tension on the TB fail the pump quicker than that?

Thanks!!

-always recommend to replace t-belt tensioner & idler when replacing t-belt.
-is your water pump used?? if so may as well leave the pump alone
-you don't necessry need to lock the cvvt hub to replace a t-belt if you know the procedure, but if u mass up the timing while u are doing it, then u will require a special to lock the cam at the back & a special procdure to set the cvvt back to the correct timing.
-there is a special procdure of setting the tensioner. your's should be a spring tension. the setting is depend on the temperature your car is @.
