05 s40 battery draw
I got a 2005 s40 t5. Have had low batt messages and long crank in morning. Have charged my battery twice. Midtronics battery and charging test came out good and cranking power very good, so i know it holding a charge. One morning ocv 7.5v. Im doin a battery draw test. Does anybody know volvo current consumption spec for this vehicle?
Static (car not running, key OFF) current draw should on the order of 50 to 150 mA; more than that is excessive (on any car).
Did you measure it? what did you get?
Keep in mind when you break the circuit to insert the current meter, once the meter is connected, you'll have to wait some time (maybe up to a minute or so) for all control modules to go back into sleep mode. Then note the current draw; more than 200 mA is definitely an issue.

voltage drop on positive cable to starter? alternator?
negative cable drop?
You know how to do these???
these cars are known for corrosion on negative terminal and batteries going bad, ive seen some batteries pass test but are not any good.

NEG BATTERY CABLE DID HAVE CORROSION, BUT I CLEANED THAT WHEN FIRST PURCHASED. PERFORM CLOSED CIRCIUT CURRENT TEST AND CAME OUT GOOD. ONLY 20mA AFTER APPROX AN HOUR. MY BATTERY WONT TAKE MORE CHARGING CAUSE CHARGER ALWAYS SAY FULL AFTER FEW MIN. HAVENT HAD ANY VOLTAGE PROBLEMS SINCE. A FLUKE MAYBE?

Corrosion on these terminals most of time means replacment, and it is expensive and difficult to replace.
I have seen corrosion go all the way to where it is grounded on the transmission housing, these cables do not like it when that coating has come off and exposed the copper color.
Let us know how it turns out.
