1985 760 GLE turbo diesel... melt or part out?
I have owned this 85 760 GLE turbo diesel for about 12 years. The camshaft broke in two places a few months ago, and although I have found a replacement camshaft, I am considering parting out...not sure what other damage exists ~ and am losing motivation to dive into this. Does this car have any following or particular parts in demand? I don't necessarily want to send it off for scrap, if it has some need out there by turbo diesel fans. Any opinions would be beneficial, thanks. Also, I have a fair amount of shade-tree mechanic skills, but would appreciate any warnings about diving into this repair.
Thanks for any and all advise.

Why not repair it? They go reasonably well for what they are and fuel prices are never going to get cheaper.
If I owned one I'd keep it, parts cheap and probably the best of the diesel cars in that price range or of that era.
