I purchased AmsOil Signature Series motor oil for my 01 V70 oil change:

I don't know if it's actually going to last the 35k miles / 1 year it says it does, butI figure I'd try it out and see how well it works compared to everything else I've used in the past.

Sorry but I don't believe in that stuff.
We had a customer that swore by that stuff and had it in a S80 turbo. Said amsoil backed the fact that the oil would last atleast 15 to 25K with no problems. Well the guy used it from day 1 and changed it every 25K. At 100k motor was sludged and locked up solid.
Then he wanted to sue amsoil to make them pay for the motor. They told him to go pound salt.
He had to buy the motor himself.

Well, I think anybody that waits that long to change oil is insane. I wouldn't push it. Their regular stuff says 15 to 25 and their signature series supposedly last longer, but I wouldn't go that long. I think if I got 10k out of it I'd be happy. I just thought I'd see what all the hype is about.
Well, after driving it for a few days, I am pretty impressed with the oil so far. It's like the engine has a new life. When I originally bought it, the oil had just been changed with standard 5w30 and it never performed like this.
BUT, the air intake system was all dirty as well. I had to completely remove and clean every part of the air intake because that main Y-neck vavle didn't move too much, so I had to shave off a bit for it to open and close freely, slightly lube the hinges of the moving pieces, etc.
Even after that, this car never picked up like it does now. This combined with the trans fluid finally being where it's at, and it just has more power. The only thing I've done to it is put a K&N filter in but that's been in there for a while.
It could just be the difference between running normal and synthetic. So far though, the difference is substantial.
