2000 s-70 transmission
Mine's developed a lag of a few seconds when you shift from P to D, or from N to D. You shift, nothing happens, then after a few seconds, it lurches into D. What might be wrong?
I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know. I've complained about this to my mechanic (not the dealer-shop), and he's just shrugged and says he doesn't notice the problem.
When you open the hood look down next to the battery. It will be a little lower. Look for a Yellow Dipstick handle. Pull it out and look at the color. It should be RED. Then start the car up and let it idle. Insert the Dipstick and remove it and see where the level is.
Wipe the Dipstick and do it a couple of times to make sure it is reading correct.
Also do it with the engine WARM.
