I want to replace the fuel filter on my 2000 V40 with new. When I was investigating, I noticed a band that encircles the filter canister. The bands function seems to be to scure a sensor. I'm curious what the function of this sensor is. (Yes, my band/clamp is broken) Does anyone know what that sensor is? Pic attached.
Vehicle presently has original fuel filter. 84k miles. I'm experiencing some hard starting - I have to crank it for 3-5 seconds before it starts. It used to start immediately. I'm thinking the fuel filter may be the cause. New plugs and air cleaner. I suspect the injectors are ok as well. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Brad

That fuel/vacuum gauge is for carb engines. Max pressure on the gauge is only 10psi. Your fuel injection is about 50 psi. An Appropriate gauge connects to the tire valve like port on the fuel system.
